BLOOMINGTON – A heat advisory is in effect for Central Illinois until 7 p.m. as the heat index is expected to hit triple digits.
Patti Thompson with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency said the heat can overwhelm anyone.
“It’s amazing that while we often caution about small children, the elderly or people with special medical conditions, it can really impact just about anybody,” Thompson said.
Thompson recommends drinking at least 1.5 quarts of fluids daily, even if you aren’t thirsty. It’s also a good idea to leave caffeinated or alcoholic beverages out of your diet.
