PONTIAC – A wind farm project in Livingston County has been struck down.

Several hundred people watched at Pontiac Township High School as the Livingston County Board voted 13 to 9 to deny a special use permit for the Pleasant Ridge Wind Farm.

Chicago-based Invenergy was seeking to build 136 turbines near the towns of Chatsworth, Fairbury, Forrest and Strawn.

The county board denied the special use permit last month in a tie vote before the county’s Agriculture, Zoning and Emergency Services Committee added special considerations for the project and sent it back for a second vote.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
