SPRINGFIELD – Hot enough for ya? It’s no joke this week in Illinois, with heat indices poised to reach triple digits.
“I even recommend to people: just plan at the top of the hour, every hour, make sure you take a glass of water. Have a system in place to think about drinking water, taking a break, those kinds of things,” said Trish Burnett, a spokeswoman for the American Red Cross in central and southern Illinois.
Burnett said you should check on pets and elderly neighbors, don’t exert yourself, and stay inside if you can. More information about hot weather tips is available on the Red Cross’ web site.
