LINCOLN – The National Weather Service reports a flood warning for Bloomington-Normal and southern McLean County following several days of rain.
The warning is in effect until 9:45 a.m. The weather service reports standing water on many roads following an estimated three inches of rain on Wednesday.
Martin Luther King Drive in Bloomington was impassable between West Market Street and White Oak Road as of early Thursday morning. Bloomington Public Works Director Jim Karch said all roads were opened as of 7:15 a.m.
McLean County Sheriff’s Police report standing water on many rural roads, primarily in eastern McLean County. Some roads could be closed.
NWS says the warning area is along Interstate 55 between mile markers 142 and 159 and Interstate 74 between mile markers 132 and 147. Areas under the warning include Heyworth, Colfax, Downs, McLean, Arrowsmith, Cropsey, Ellsworth, Cooksville, Anchor, Holder, Shirley and Moraine View State Park.
