PONTIAC – The latest round of layoffs at Caterpillar will affect workers at its plant in Pontiac.
Company officials have confirmed that 35 employees are being placed on indefinite leave. The heavy-equipment maker is also releasing 10 supplemental workers. The furloughs take effect on July 20.
A Caterpillar spokesperson said the restructuring will help the company meet current customer demand. Caterpillar pink-slipped more than 100 workers at its East Peoria plant last month.
