Janice M. Rolfs, 85, of Bloomington passed away on June 23 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
She was born on Sep. 21, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a daughter of Alvin A. and Ruth Formont Altmayer. She married Raymond F. Rolfs on Feb. 4, 1950 in Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1992.
Jan was an avid Bridge player. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Merna.
Jan loved raising her 10 children and enjoyed all of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Jan was loved by all who knew her.
Surviving are her children, Debby (Rich) Gosnell of IA, Mark D. (Diane) Rolfs of MD, Jeff (Cynthia) Rolfs of Bloomington, Scott (Deb) Rolfs of Hudson, Timothy (Althea) Rolfs of Bloomington, Pat (Sarah) Rolfs of Bloomington, Phil Rolfs of Colfax, Beth Stuepfert of Normal, Pamela (Paul) Zaremba of Mt. Prospect and Amy Rolfs of Bloomington; 23 grandchildren, Mike Gosnell, Dave (Kathi) Gosnell, Christy Gosnell, Mark A. (Stella) Rolfs, Kristin Rolfs, Brian (Megan) Rolfs, Brandon (Andrea) Rolfs, Erik (Jenna) Rolfs, Hope Rolfs, Grace Rolfs, Josh (Ashley) Rolfs , Katie (Jason) Boyer, Matt Rolfs, Alex Rolfs, John Rolfs, Jessica Rolfs, Adam Rolfs, Jake Rolfs, Andy (Katie) Stuepfert, Cody Stuepfert, Lauren Zaremba, Danny Zaremba and Stephen Zaremba; 8 great grand-children, Clara, Gavin, Aiden, Byron, Kody, Paisley, Nathan and Jordyn; brothers, Bob (Linda) Altmayer and Gary (Linda) Altmayer, both of Wis.; sisters, Nancy (Dick) Meyer of Texas and Addie (Roger) Sellner of Wis.
In addition to her husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Barbara Altmayer.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Merna with Monsignors Gregory Ketcham and Gerald Ward officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Special Olympics, American Cancer Society or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Merna.
