BLOOMINGTON – A McLean County jury has convicted a Bloomington man on drug delivery charges.
Jafaria Newton, 41, was found guilty on Wednesday two counts of delivering crack cocaine near a church. He was arrested by Bloomington Police Department’s Vice Unit in January.
McLean County State’s Attorney Jason Chambers said drug dealers are treated differently than simple users because those who are dealing are preying on those who are struggling with addiction.
Newton has three prior felony convictions – two for dealing drugs and one for criminal damage to property. McLean County Judge Robert Freitag will sentence Newton on July 30.
