SPRINGFIELD – With only a few weeks left until an end of the month budget deadline and no balanced approach to fund state government operations in sight, Illinois senators will be back in Springfield Tuesday for another Committee of the Whole hearing.
This time the focus will be college affordability in Illinois.
Earlier this week, senators held a Committee of the Whole featuring several panels to discuss property taxes and the impact any freeze of property taxes would have on local school districts and other units of government.
Meanwhile, a House Executive committee will take up a Senate Joint Resolution on a measure to create a commission to ensure full participation in the next national census of 2020. There could be other committee and floor actions scheduled for next week when lawmakers return to Springfield for continuous session.
