SPRINGFIELD – Here’s the next generation of the child-proof cap: a cap with a combination lock.
State Rep. Mike Zalewski (D-Riverside) has almost passed a bill setting out a pilot program for the locking caps on prescription pill bottles through the Illinois legislature.
“What we want to do is create a program where retailers can do a rebate program, so (customers) can get a coupon for a $10 rebate,” he said.
The bill is promoted as both good for families and a salvo in a renewed battle on drugs such as heroin.
H.B. 3219 has passed both chambers but awaits House concurrence on a Senate amendment.
