Bloomington – Carol Wilma Aughenbaugh, 87, of El Paso, formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Heritage Senior Care in El Paso.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Christine McNeal officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Laenna Cemetery in Logan County. Memorials may be made to Heritage Senior Care in El Paso.
Carol was born on February 5, 1932 in Secor, Illinois, a daughter of Carl and Elsa (Porth) Wessel. She married Robert Ansel Aughenbaugh on July 11, 1971 in Peoria, Illinois. He survives.
Also surviving are 3 stepdaughters, Cheryl (Ron) Boggs of Ohio, Carol (Larry) Northrup of Mississippi, Christy Combs of Schaumburg, IL; a stepson, Robin Aughenbaugh of Sycamore, IL; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Gerald Wessel; niece, Karen Durham; nephews, Gerald, Derald, Leslie and Carl Weeks, David, Dennis, Steven, Mark and Brian Wessel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leroy, Delmar, Arlo; stepdaughter, Cindy; sisters, Jean, Onetta; sisters in-law, Judy and Joanne; and brother in-law, Ethan.
Carol attended schools in Secor and El Paso. She was employed as a secretary in Bloomington, Peoria and Mesa, AZ.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington.
