HEYWORTH – A former McLean County sheriff’s deputy fired for lying about an accident involving his squad car has been dismissed from his job as a part-time police officer in Heyworth.
Shaun O’Grady was hired by the Heyworth Police Department after he was let go by the McLean County Sheriff’s office for lying about details of a November 2013 wreck involving his parked squad car. O’Grady’s vehicle was partially blocking a highway in rural Colfax when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck was ticketed for the crash, but those tickets were later rescinded.
O’Grady was reportedly let go in the beginning of the year by the Heyworth Police Department after being placed on unpaid leave when criminal charges were filed against him in December 2014.
