Harold Maxwell
Harold B. Maxwell, 96, of Bloomington, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on April 27 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Pastor Stephanie Soon officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the memorial home.
Entombment will be at Park Hill Mausoleum in Bloomington. Full Military Rites will be accorded by VFW Post #454 of Bloomington and U.S. Coast Guard Funeral Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post #454, 1006 E. Lincoln Street, Bloomington 61701-7228.
Harold was born on Aug. 24, 1918 in Waynesville, Ill., a son of Harold and Faye (Buck) Maxwell. He married Leota Rheim on Feb. 4, 1939 in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on May 30, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, Terry (Susan) Maxwell of Spring Green, Wis., Daryl (Barb) Maxwell of Bloomington, Craig (Carrie Gonzalez) Maxwell of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Ben Maxwell, Chadd (Kasey) Maxwell, Brett (Shelly) Maxwell; five great grandchildren; nephew, Larry (Kathy) Maxwell of Memphis, Tenn.; niece, Sue (Mark) Kidwell of Bloomington and sister in-law, Carrie Arnold of Bloomington.
In addition to his wife Leota, he was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Howard (Elaine) Maxwell.
Harold proudly served his county in the United States Coast Guard stationed in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He was employed as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service in Bloomington for over 25 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Bloomington Masonic Lodge #43, A.F. and A.M. of Illinois; VFW Post #454 in Bloomington and the Association of Letter Carriers.
Harold was active in the VFW post. He was an avid golfer, Chicago Cub fan and he enjoyed watching sports.

Gertrude Peck
Gertrude Mae “Trudy” Peck, 84, of Normal, passed away April 27 at Heritage Manor in Normal.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Normal with Pastor Jonathan Huehn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Entombment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church, 311 Hershey Road, Normal 61761 to the Christian Education Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
Trudy was born on May 7, 1930 in Kewanee, Ill., a daughter of Emil and Lillian (Warkentine) Hintz. She married Sherman Peck on April 26, 1953 in Kewanee.
Surviving are her husband, Sherman; brother, Ralph (Janet) Hintz of Arizona; son, Kyle Peck of New Mexico; daughter, Pam (Gary) Moreland of Texas; daughter, Cathy (Kevin) Hayes of Massachusetts; daughter in-law, Holly Peck of Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy, Dylan, Misti, Katie, Michael, Becky, Jimi, Austin, Danielle; great grandchildren, Makayla, Alyssa, Morgan, Maegan, Makai, Meven, Malaya, Madden, Halle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death was her her parents and a son Eric Peck of Texas.
Trudy graduated from Galva High School in 1948 and then The Cradle (child care) in 1950. She received her LPN license from Evanston Hospital (pediatrics). She worked at Mennonite, Brokaw, Bro Menn for 32 years.
Trudy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 55 years, Sarah Circle, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Treasurer of Aid Association for Lutherans/Thrivent, member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was an Election Judge since the early 60’s. She volunteered at the Normal Theater, Mobil Meals, Bro Menn, and the Bloomington Normal Air Show.
Trudy was the loving mother of four children (P)amela (E)ric (C)athy and (K)yle that uniquely spelled out the family name Peck.
Trudy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, and puzzles of all kinds. She was an avid bowler that was highlighted with “The Four Aces” Team. She and Sherm traveled extensively with many family vacations, and anniversary trips. Christmas and Holidays were always special with many card and board games at the kitchen table with Grandma.
