BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington’s new water director has been in public works in the Chicago area for about 20 years.
Patrick Ryan, 52, said helping Lake in the Hills expand its water supply when he worked there a decade ago is good preparation for the water challenges Bloomington faces.
“That was very exciting, I quite enjoyed that,” Ryan said. “When I heard it was a similar situation in Bloomington, that was really what sold me on the job.”
Ryan is now self-employed. He said he has learned how to overcome financial constraints without diminishing service.
“These are tough economic times, but we still have bring the best quality water and safety supply and that’s going to be my number one goal, to ensure that continues,” Cummings said.
Craig Cummings was Bloomington’s water director for more than a decade before leaving for a job in Texas. Brett Lueschen has been serving the interim water director post.
