BLOOMINGTON – The latest numbers from the Illinois Department of Employment Security said Bloomington has the lowest unemployment rate of any of the state’s metro areas.
The city had an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent last month.
The agency said a majority of the state’s metro regions increased employment in March. It’s the 13th month that the unemployment rate has dropped in Illinois. Eight of 14 regions in the state saw an improvement in jobs figures.
Decatur had the highest rate at 7 percent, followed closely by Danville at 6.9 percent.
The state’s unemployment rate is 6.3 percent.
