BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Thunder are already in preparation for the 2015-16 regular season, but are inviting the Bloomington-Normal community to take hold of the team’s third jersey design.
The organization is offering a free entry for fans to design the Thunder’s alternate jersey for the upcoming season. The current Thunder home and away jerseys will remain the same for the ’15-16 campaign, while adding the alternate jersey to wear sporadically.
All entries into the contest are due by May 15th and the Thunder will compile all entries for a fan vote on social media. After the fan vote, the best design will be announced on social media and the winner will win a variety of perks for creating the Thunder’s alternate jersey.
Designs can be submitted by email to Kaitlyn@BloomingtonThunder.com, or by mail to U.S. Cellular Coliseum, 101 S. Madison St., Bloomington, 61701
“We thought it would be neat to get fans involved in the design of our third jersey,” said Thunder Vice President and General Manager, Kurt Silcott. “We think we have some great colors and logos and we’re very interested to see what our fans come up with. We know there are a lot of creative people here in Bloomington-Normal and we’re confident that we will come out of this contest with something unique that all of our fans will really like.”
The winner of the contest will receive a complimentary third jersey from the team, customized with their number and name, four tickets to the ’15-16 Home Opener, four tickets to the alternate jersey debut game, and will also drop the puck at the game.
Silcott also added even more incentive to get the designer’s name out to the community. “The added bonus is that the winning fan will also get his or her name printed on each jersey worn by the team, we think that will be an extra special bonus for our winner.”
The Thunder concluded their first season in the United States Hockey League Saturday with a 3-1 win, finishing the year with a 29-24-7 record. It is the second winning season in Bloomington hockey history since 2006.
