EUREKA – A Bloomington woman has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for concealing a homicide.

Vishawn Mills, 25, was sentenced on Tuesday in Woodford County Court. Mills had reached a plea agreement in January in which she pleaded guilty to concealing a homicide in the death of Oakley Mitchell, an elderly Secor man. Murder charges against Mills were dropped.

Mitchell's remains were found at his home and in the Mackinaw River in August of 2013.

Rayshawn Johnson of Bloomington, Mills' boyfriend, was previously sentenced to 50 prison for the murder. Mills was the caretaker for the 74-year-old Mitchell.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…
