SPRINGFIELD – Of course it's nobody elses business whether my child is vaccinated.
Of course all children should be vaccinated.
State Sen. John Mulroe (D-Chicago) is willing to tiptoe into that breach with a bill to tighten restrictions on declaring exemptions from vaccinations.
“I have four kids. If I choose not to vaccinate my kids, I would hope parents appreciate the fact that that's your choice,” Mulroe says. “but by your choice and you possibly affecting these other children who are vulnerable and can't get the vaccination, we want to make sure we're concerned with their well-being as well.”
The Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education would have to be involved, as well as the child's doctor.
