Rauner nominates two for U of I board

CHAMPAIGN – Two open seats on the University of Illinois Board of Trustees are close to being filled. Gov. Bruce Rauner nominated Ramon Cepeda and Jill Smart for a pair of openings Tuesday.

Cepeda is a University of Illinois Chicago graduate and senior vice president at Northern Trust. Cepeda overseas a commercial real estate group and is the managing director of the wealth management division.

Smart, a U of I graduate, worked as an adjunct professor and a guest lecturer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Smart retired from Accenture in 2014 as chief human resources officer.
