BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Thunder have announced their Sunday, March 1 game is Blackhawks Day with the Thunder featuring Chicago Blackhawks legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull.
Hull will be in attendance at the game along with the Blackhawks Ice Crew to sign autographs and meet the Thunder fans. The 3 p.m. game at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum features the partnership between the Bloomington Thunder and one of the NHL’s most storied franchises.
“We are very pleased to bring Bobby Hull and the Ice Girls to Bloomington as a part of our newly formed partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks,” said Kurt Silcott, VP and GM of the Thunder. “Many thanks to Pete Hassen, Senior Director of Marketing for the Blackhawks, for his role in getting this accomplished,” added Silcott.
Hull will be honored with the ceremonial puck drop and be available between the first and second periods for autographs in the Bud Light Lounge of the Coliseum. The Ice Girls will make several appearances in the game on ice and in the stands, and will also be available to sign autographs between the second and third periods. Many giveaway and raffle prizes from the Blackhawks will be available and given out to fans in attendance.
The ‘Hawks alum played in 16 NHL seasons and also competed in seven seasons in the World Hockey Association. He accumulated 1063 games played in the NHL with 1170 points (610g, 560a) and 411 games played in the WHA with 638 points (303g, 335a). The Point Anne, Ontario native won the Stanley Cup with the Hawks in 1961 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983. A three-time Art Ross Trophy winner, Hull honored with a statue outside of the United Center along with former teammate Stan Mikita. Hull also had his number 9 jersey retired by the Blackhawks on Dec. 18, 1983.
