BLOOMINGTON – Seven athletes from Intercity high schools will sign national letters of intent today to continue their careers at Division I colleges.
Six of the athletes are from Unit 5 schools Normal Community and Normal West.
Leading the way is West quarterback Arion Worthman, who is headed for the Air Force Academy.
Other Division I signees from West are Keely Theobald to Illinois State for soccer and Natalie Freeman to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville for soccer.
NCHS athletes signing at the Division I level are Lizzie Woerner for soccer at the University of Memphis along with Austin and Jared Peters for cross country to Lipscomb University.
University High's Kate Olson is also headed to Eastern Illinois for soccer.
Other athletes sealing commitments today include NCHS standouts Riley Hutchinson to Aurora University for soccer; Avery Sylvester to Iowa Wesleyan for football; Lexi Beach to Alabama-Huntsville for softball; Hannah Penn to Augustana for cross country and track; Natalie Benson to Indianapolis University for swimming.
From Normal West Karson Lueck is headed to Olivet Nazarene for football, while Braxton Coffman of Central Catholic will play football at St. Joseph.
