BLOOMINGTON – FedEx is opening a new FedEx Express facility at the Central Illinois Regional Airport. CIRA executive director Carl Olson says he's excited about the partnership.
"This is a new start. It's a new start for FedEx Express and Central Illinois. It's a new start for CIRA," olson said.
Stephen Sims, senior manager in charge of ramp operations with FedEx, believes the facility will have a positive impact on the area.
"FedEx, that name opens a lot of doors. We tend to see good development around any of our buildings," Sims said.
Sims didn't have an estimate on the number of jobs the facility will create. The first FedEx Express flight out of CIRA is scheduled for 10:01 p.m. Monday.
