NORMAL – The Illinois State University student critically injured in a hit-and-run over the weekend has been identified as Benjamin Allison, 20, of Crystal Lake.

Allison reportedly is a communications major and a member of the student radio station. An arrest was made late Saturday stemming from the hit-and-run on ISU's campus.

Joshua Dunn, 21, of Normal was arrested Saturday after police received tips from the public and eventually tracked down the Dunn's 1998 Toyota Corolla. He has been charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Dunn reportedly told authorities he was on his way home from a party the night before where he had been drinking alcohol. Dunn will appear in court again Feb. 13. A judge ruled Dunn is a flight risk due to his residence outside of McLean County.

Allison was found just before 9 a.m. on Saturday on a crosswalk at the intersection of College Avenue and Fell Avenue. He was transported to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center where as of Monday morning he remained in critical condition.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
