BLOOMINGTON – Police say a man from Normal who beat another man with an aluminum bat has been arrested after officers found him hiding under some laundry in his basement.
Bloomington Police spokeswoman Sara Mayer said officers from Bloomington, Normal and the state arrested Anthony Childs, 24, at his home on Hovey Avenue in Normal on Wednesday.
In what appears to be a random attack, Mayer said Childs pulled a man out of his car in the 600 block of East Douglas in the afternoon on Dec. 8, hit him multiple times with a bat on the man's arms and legs and took an undetermined amount of cash.
Childs is being held in the McLean County Jail on a $250,000 bond. He faces a Feb. 6 court date.
