PEORIA – A communications school at Bradley University has a new name.
The Peoria college renamed the facility the Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication during ceremonies held Thursday in Los Angeles.
The former ESPN SportsCenter anchor and Yankees broadcaster and current Dodgers play-by-play man graduated from Bradley in 1971.
Steiner says he plans to spend one week on campus every fall teaching students the finer points of on-air sports journalism. Other Southern California sportscasters who attended Bradley include Lakers legend Chick Hearn, Bob Starr and current Clippers play-by-play man Ralph Lawler.
