NORMAL – Heartland Community College's Alumni Association will host its third annual Vinyl and Vino event this next week.
The "happy hour" themed event is open to anyone 21 and older. Heartland associated director of public information Becky Gropp said it should again be a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
"Especially here in the heart of winter at the end of January. It's just something fun to do; it's only $5," said Gropp. "There's a DJ who will be present who will spin some old records. There's actually a turntable."
Gropp reminded anyone planning to attend to bring any of their own records to be played.
"If you have some old vinyls that have been sitting in a garage or in a closet it's a great opportunity to get those out. It's very nostalgic, brings back a lot of memories," said Gropp. "There’s also going to be an opportunity to kind of tell your story, like where were you when this song came out? What kind of memories does it bring back for you? That sort of thing.
"It's a good opportunity to go back in time."
Vinyl and Vino will take place Friday at Heartland's Student Commons Building from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration is requested and can be done at heartland.edu/alumni.
