Lidia Cerda
Lidia Cerda, 84, of Chenoa, passed away at 10:12 a.m., Jan. 15 at her residence.
His funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chenoa with Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the mass and burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Monday also at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chenoa. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chenoa.
Lidia was born April 1, 1930 in Monterey, Mexico the daughter of Adelido and Simmona Aranda. She married Rosendo “Rosy” Cerda in Brownsville, Texas in 1948. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999 with a renewal of vows.
Surviving are five children, Jane (Tom) Cassidy, Elisa (Joe) Nemergut, Otilia (Jose) Perez Sr. all of Pontiac; Rosendo (Cecilia Weigbrecht) Cerda Jr., Eusebio Cerda both of Chenoa, two brothers, four sisters, sixteen grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one daughter and one son.

Waneve Kaufmann
Waneve “Evie” Kaufmann, 64, of Bloomington, passed away on Jan. 16 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Christ Lutheran Church in Normal with Pastors Chris Hull and Jonathan Huehn officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church.
Interment will be at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
Evie was born on April 17, 1950 in Marshfield, Wisconsin, a daughter of Albert and Dolores Lesavich Garbalagtys. She married Reverend Philip S. Kaufmann on June 28, 1969 in Junction City, Wisc.
Surviving are two sons, Timothy (Joy) Kaufmann of Orange, Calif.; Reverend Martin (Amy) Kaufmann of Auburn; five grandchildren, Jonah, Hannah, both of Orange, Calif.; Andrew, Katie and Laura Kaufmann of Auburn; mother, Dolores Garbalagtys of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc.; father- in-law, Willard Kaufmann of Bloomington; a brother, John (Linda) Garbalagtys of Wisconsin Rapids; four sisters, Sue (John) Steuck of Rudolph, Wisc., Joanne (Andy) Snowdon of Amissville, Va., Marti (Allen) Harger of Wisconsin Rapids, Becki (Dan) Lawry of Wisconsin Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Philip; father, Albert; and mother in-law, Minnie Kaufmann.
Evie was born and raised in Wisconsin. After marrying her husband Rev. Philip Kaufmann, they moved to southern and central Illinois. She was a loving and supportive pastor’s wife through their service to the Lutheran church. She worked for the Central Illinois District Office of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Springfield where she also spent time working at St. John’s Hospital. Upon coming to Bloomington, she worked at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Evie was a loving mother and grandmother who was loved by all of her family. She enjoyed family vacations, biking, walking and being a loving homemaker. She loved her Lord and found comfort in His Word.
