Bloomington to host winter carnival

BLOOMINGTON  The Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department invites the community to come out and enjoy the snow at its Winter Carnival.

On Saturday from 1-3 p.m., the Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts will be hosting an afternoon full of snow activities, games and more. This free event will be happening with or without snow.

Miller Park will offer various activities from sled races and ice fishing to broomball and igloo building. Families and friends can stop by and see all the activities happening at Miller Park starting at 1.

Highland Golf Course will be offering sledding on the golf course from 1-3 p.m. with free inner tube rentals.

"People of all ages can come out and have family time at any location. Be sure to bundle up and get ready to have some fun," said program manager Joyce McKeon.

Pepsi Ice Center will have an open skate from 12:50-1:50 pm with a $1 off admission. The Figure Skating Club will provide skating demonstrations, games and a free Learn to Skate class during the public open skate. The Illinois State Hockey team will be playing at the Coliseum at 1 with the USHL Thunder team playing at 7.

There will also be activities inside, where guests can warm up before going on to the next outdoor adventure.
