Alice Householder

Alice M. Householder, 93 of Fairbury, passed away at 5:30 pm, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Clark-Lindsey Meadowbrook Nursing Home, Urbana.

Her funeral service will be 2 pm, Monday, January 12, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury with Rev. George Russell and Rev. Floyd Blackard officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be 1 to 1:45pm, on Monday prior to her service also at the Church in Fairbury.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury or SELCAS.

Mrs. Householder was born in Pontiac on August 20, 1921 a daughter of Marinus and Jane (Carty) Swanson.  Alice graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1939. She married Raymond Householder on July 20, 1947 in Pontiac. Her husband survives in Urbana.

Also surviving are one son, Jim (Nancy) Householder of Mahomet, IL; and two grandchildren, Natalie and Nikolai Householder both of Mahomet, IL.

Her parents, one daughter, Sue Ellen and one sister, Marge Kelson preceded her in death.

Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury, The United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron; Charter member of the Fairbury Lioness Club, Country Domestic Science Club and Fairbury American legion Auxiliary; and was an Election Judge for many years.

She worked in the Circuit Clerks office, as secretary for Attorney Harvey Traub; and was secretary at the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury for 26 years. She belonged to several bridge clubs, enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
