NORMAL – A pair of Duck Dynasty stars are coming back to Normal this summer as part of a new emphasis at the Corn Crib.

CornBelters President Steve Malliet told WJBC the baseball team plans on use more big promotions to drive fans to the park.

"We've got a much bigger emphasis on the entertainment and you've going to see a lot more appear from celebrities and entertainers coming in here this summer than ever before," Malliet said.

John Luke and Sadie Robertson who came to the Corn Crib in 2013, will be back on June 20 for a meet and greet.

Malliet said announcements of other big names will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

"That's a big point of emphasis for Mike Veeck, one of our owners, who is getting more involved with the team in terms of promotions," Malliet said.
"So you are going to see a lot more of this."

He added Sadie's new 'level' of stardom through 'Dancing with Stars' has made this a case of good timing.

"Last year, we unfortunately couldn't get them, but we tried and just stayed in contact with them," Malliet said. "Sure enough, it worked out."

Malliet said tickets sold out in less than a week for their 2013 appearance.

Individual game tickets go on sale this weekend.

By Mike Matejka As President Donald Trump threatens to send federal marshals into Chicago, over the objections of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
