BLOOMINGTON – A 19-year-old is on trial for aggravated battery against a police officer in Bloomington.
It reportedly happened after a large altercation at a Dennys restaurant on Eldorado Road in Bloomington on June 13. Gabriela Calhoun is accused of pushing a police officer during the large altercation. Her attorney told the court race is a factor. Calhoun claims she lost two teeth and was handcuffed with her tube top pulled down to her waist. Police had been called to the scene after a report of a stabbing outside the restaurant.
The prosecution says police were met with resistance while trying to do their jobs. Police have said they feel certain a surveillance video will support the officers accounts of what happened that night.
