Louise Croft

Louise B. Croft, 96, of Bloomington, formerly of Ellsworth, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Dec. 29 at the Martin Health Center, Bloomington.

Her graveside funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dawson Cemetery, Ellsworth. The  Rev. Vaughn Hoffman will be officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.

The family suggests memorials be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington.

Louise was born March 10, 1918 in Ellsworth, the daughter of  James A. and Vida Schooley Bane. She married H.O. Croft in 1950, Ellsworth. He precedes her in death.

Surviving are three cousins, Margaret Caldwell, Ellsworth, Eleanor Stovall, Macon, Ga., Helen Kimmerly, Tuscon, Ariz.; several second cousins, including

Doug Caldwell, LeRoy, Dave (Bridget) Caldwell, Ellsworth, Kay Caldwell, Bloomington, Steve ( Debbie) Sovereign, Bloomington, Larry (Carol) Miller, Georgia; three special family friends, Cheryl (Joseph)  Arena, Fla., Patty (Mike) Milazzo, Arizona, Cindy Holtman, Arizona.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ruth Bane.

Louise graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Education. She taught elementary school for many years in various country schools before settling and teaching in Springfield. Louise was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington. She was a former member of the First Methodist Church, Springfield and was very active in the Women’s Society of the church. She was very active in life with helping others. She helped her husband in his ministry at a country church in Springfield. She will be missed by all who knew her. Marjorie Mounce

Marjorie E. Mounce, 92, of Normal, formerly of Pekin passed away Dec. 28 at 4:45 p.m. at Mclean County Nursing Home in Normal.

Her graveside services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington with Rev. Kim Burke officiating at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home is assisting her family with arrangements.

Marjorie was born April 19, 1922 in Gridley, Illinois a daughter to Vivian and Edith Freed Wilfong. She married Frank J. Mounce on Sept. 07, 1946 in Normal, Illinois. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2009.

She is survived by her sister, Bess Schenkel of Bloomington; one sister-in-law, Marie Peasley of Normal; and several nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, and three sisters.

Marjorie worked for the Pantagraph Newspaper in Bloomington and Metropolitan Life Insurance Companies in Peoria where she retired. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Normal, The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), and the Bloomington CAT retirees.

The family would like to thank Dr. Deoskar and all of the staff at Mclean County Nursing Home for all of their compassion and hard work.

David Orr

David Claude Orr, 70, of Normal, died Dec. 28 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago.

His visitation will be from â€‹3​-7 p.m. Tuesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.  His memorial service will be at 10 a.m.​ Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with â€‹Pastor Chad Lueck ​officiating.  For those interested, Dave’s family will hold a celebration of life after the funeral early Wednesday afternoon with details to follow.  

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

He was born May 28, 1944 in Macomb, the son of Paul Wilson and Marian Margaret Myers Orr.  He married Marcia â€‹(Lockenvitz) ​Morley in 1980.  He later married Patricia Wolf on Aug. 11, 2012 and she survives in Normal.

Also surviving are his children, Eric Orr and Lindsay Orr, both of Chicago, Trish (Mike) Dowd of Normal and Brett (Heather) Kearfott of Manteno; two grandchildren, Mason Dowd and Samantha Kearfott; a sister, Jane (Trevor) Toland of Macomb; and a brother, Brian (Ellen) Orr of Bradenton, Fla.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

David earned his Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from Eastern Illinois University where he played baseball.  He retired from Country Financial.  Prior to his time at Country Financial, he taught school for 35 years and spent the last twenty years of his teaching career at El Paso High School where he was also a beloved basketball coach.  He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the National Education Association.
