SPRINGFIELD- State officials say medical marijuana prices in Illinois will be determined by the marketplace, not regulated by the state.
Bob Morgan, who runs Illinois' medical cannabis program, says the cost of the product will depend on supply and demand in the state.
Public health officials say patients will be able to start buying and using medical marijuana sometime during the first half of next year. As of early December, 600 people had been approved to use the drug, although thousands have started the application process.
The state will license 21 medical cannabis growers and 60 dispensaries around the state.
