New Military Readiness Center opens at Heartland

Normal – There is a new Military Readiness Center located at Heartland Community College.  

Ground was broken for the $18 million project in March of 2013.  The center will be the home for the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. The new facility allow for Soldiers to train and prepare to engage in military operations.  The 404th had been located in Chicago.  The new location in Normal allows for easy access to the highway and an airport.

The 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade includes units with capabilities designed for domestic emergency missions, including search and extraction; mass casualty chemical, nuclear and biological decontamination; military police; firefighting; engineers and communications.
