Check out McLean County's top kid reporter!
Maybe he has a future at WJBC....

11-year-old James Warren won our contest to interview one of the Harlem Globe Trotters.  His winning question:  "What was one of the craziest things to happen during a game, that was not planned?"  Check out the podcasts (above) to hear how the player answers.  I think you'll find James did a great job!!

    Happy 150th Birthday District 87!
I drove in the Sesquicentennial parade for WJBC.
Here are a few pics from the day:

The alumni float included the former Purple Raider mascot.

Students, teachers and parents get ready for the parade.

I really liked the Sheridan School float and its Sponge Bob theme!

    Katrina Two Years Later:
    You can still help!

Please offer a hand, a heart or a dollar to the people along the Gulf Coast.  They're hardworking folks who don't expect a handout.  But, they clearly  need our help!

Two years after the town of Normal adopted the city of D'Iberville, MS.... there's much more rebuilding to do.  I have family still living in Mississippi, and I can tell you first hand they wouldn't ask for anything they're not willing to do themselves.  The sheer size of the reconstruction projects are just overwhelming for most families.

If you want to take action and offer your special skills, please call the D'Iberville Volunteers Foundation at 1-228-324-9292.  Ask for Ed!  He's great.

We all have something to share.  And if our government can't or won't do it.... then, why don't we?!

    Sincerely,
    Beth

    Talk about a REVOLUTION!
The site of our Las Vegas Show

The entry into the Beatles Revolution Lounge.
You could sit or dance within the letters.

If you look through the words, you see Beatles lyrics on the inside.

The VIP area we called home.

The bright wall to the left displays the art you create on the lounge's interactive tables.  Pretty psychedelic stuff!  I loved it... create your own Beatles Art on the lounge's website.

Goofing off with the tourists... that's me in the middle!
I hope to go back to see "Spamalot".

    WJBC news ranks No. 1!

    Birthdays at the Coliseum

My sister lines up with kids to drop a Prairie Thunder ceremonial puck.  Turns out, a lot of adults have hockey birthday parties too.

Check out this link, for info.

If you're smart, you'll try the birthday cookie.  Yummy!

    Me in a nutshell.....

I caught the broadcasting bug one Christmas when my family sat around listening to tapes of my grandfather's radio show.  He had worked for years in Mississippi as a disc jockey and concert promoter.  But, I'd never known much about his career.  Something about that moment really struck me, and I found myself working toward a new career goal.

My childhood was split between Mississippi and Kentucky (insert joke here).  I worked for years at my hometown radio station, WCTT, in Corbin, KY. Then, I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Mass Communications. (I also got a minor in marketing/sales - just in case I couldn't make money.)  I took over as News Director at WEKY in Richmond.  And, I even worked as a sports/news intern for WVLK in Lexington.  Ask me sometime about meeting UK Coach Tubby Smith.  Pretty embarrassing stuff!!

FYI:  My Old Kentucky hometown is where Kentucky Fried Chicken got its start!  How many people can say that? (well according to Census information, exactly 7,742)

Life has been exciting since I moved to Normal in 1999!  Originally, I came to WJBC as news anchor and reporter. Over the next few years, I was promoted to morning anchor and eventually became the Assistant Director of News and Programming.  After co-hosting "The Drive" with Steve Fast, I moved to my own show.

You can hear me weekdays 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  I offer access to McLean County's top experts and of course, the top news stories of the day.  Best of all, it's an opportunity to call in and be part of a community-wide conversation!

My husband, Eric, works at State Farm in Bloomington.  We met while I was covering a news story about the Bears in 2001.  It took several years, but we eventually found each other again.  We got hitched last fall and we've placed a moratorium on baby questions.  I'm considering a $100 fine for each offense!  :-)

Thanks for visiting my webpage.  I hope you'll give the show a call!
