CHICAGO - Children of veterans are eligible for full-tuition scholarships to the University of Illinois.
Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn put out a reminder today that the scholarships are eligible to students of all ages whose parents have served in the military.
Quinn says the General Assembly first created the scholarship to help the children of Civil War veterans. Under Illinois law, the tuition waivers are available for up to six children of veterans in each of the state's 102 counties.
The scholarships are good at the U-of-I's campuses in Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield. And they can be used for undergraduate or graduate school.
The deadline to apply is March 1st.
