About 2,000 Corn Belt customers in the Armington, Hopedale, Stanford, Minier, Tremont and Mackinaw areas are still without power following a series of outages last night that initially left about 17,000 Corn Belt and Ameren customers in the dark.

According to Corn Belt's website, the outages resulted from problems at the Armington, Hopedale, Olympia, and Tazewell substations. Corn Belt says
ice forming on the lines and high winds caused the lines to gallop and slap together.

No word on when power will be restored. It appears power has been restored to all Ameren customers.
