Local produce coming to a grocery store near you

Consumers will now the opportunity to find Central Illinois produce on the grocery store shelves. A few local farmers have already agreed to supply the Bloomington Schnucks store with locally grown produce for the rest of the season. Store Manager Dave Ezell says he hopes this is only the start...

Ezell says Schnucks is looking to partner with more farmers next year... in the meantime, produce that is not grown in Central Illinois is brought in from other parts of the state and neighboring states whenever possible. Ezell is working with the farmers and local food advocates to supply consumers with fresh products that have not traveled thousands of miles to reach the store shelf.
