President Bush headed to Peoria today

The Republican who wants to replace Ray LaHood in Congress is getting some help from the President today. President Bush will be in Peoria for a private fundrasier for Aaron Schock. Republican Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis brushes aside the suggestion that Schock’s campaign for Congress is in trouble enough to have to bring in the president.

Ardis credits LaHood, who has a close relationship with the president, for landing the visit. Longtime radio and TV farm broadcaster Colleen Callahan is the Democratic nominee. She is countering Schock’s $500-per-person event with a $15 fish fry.
