Did cops cross forbidden lines? Ill. court says no

SPRINGFIELD, IL - The Illinois Supreme Court has backed police in two cases where officers were accused of improperly crossing boundaries to make arrests. In one, Chicago police made a drug arrest on the Indiana side of the state line. They didn't take the suspect to an Indiana judge as required.

But the Illinois Supreme Court says the mistake was minor and police didn't realize they had crossed the border. In another case, an officer followed a drunken driver back to his home. The driver ignored the officer and went inside the house.

The court says the officer then correctly entered the house to arrest the driver.
