Thousands without power following morning storms
07/21/2008 09:18:58

Ameren IP reports nearly 1,800 homes and businesses are without power in McLean County - including about 1,300 in Normal and 400 in Hudson. High winds and possible lighting strikes are to blame for the outages.

And the power Ameren feeds Corn Belt Energy has been disrupted by the storms. Customers served by Corn Belt's Kappa substation are without power, along with sporadic customers west and north of Bloomington. Corn Belt says about 2,000 customers in all are affected.

Crews are working to get power restored, but there is no estimate for how long it might take.
