Governor would pick Obama's successor

WASHINGTON - Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich isn't too popular with the state's politicians, with some of his roughest
battles with fellow Democrats over the past six years. But come November, he could have a chance to ruffle some more
feathers.
If the nation's voters decide to send Senator Barack Obama to the White House, it'll be Blagojevich who decides who fills the
remaining two years of Obama's term.
Some politicians are talking openly about the possibility of being appointed to the Senate. Evanston Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky says she'd be honored to be appointed. Congressman Luis Guitierrez says in a statement released to The Associated Press that he's flattered by folks suggesting he should be the one. And he doesn't say he shouldn't be the one.
