CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis says there'll be more officers at evening events downtown after post-fireworks shootings left one dead and three wounded last night. Weis says both uniformed and undercover officers will mingle with crowds at the Taste of Chicago and tonight's fireworks and will move as people leave downtown.

Last night, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot a few city blocks from Grant Park as hundreds of thousands of people left the lakefront.

Officials say Courtney Thomas of Chicago was shot in the head.

A 17-year-old was shot in the arm about a block away. And two nearby 15-year-olds suffered gunshot wounds, one in the buttocks and one when a bullet grazed his head.

Police say the shootings appeared to be gang-related.
