A total of 1,721 visitors helped celebrate the half-million-visitor milestone Monday for the Children's Discovery Museum. The Uptown tenant reached that attendance number a year and a half in advance of projections.

Director Shari Buckellew tells WJBC's R.C. McBride that attendance didn't count the 50 volunteers who worked, or the VIP guests who appeared on-air from the radio studio inside the museum.

The museum offered free admission for the public all day along with special programs to mark the milestone by burning a collective 500,000 calories.
