Governor Blagojevich suggested another prison facility like Pontiac as a place they might be interested in re-tooling along the lines of Sheridan. The Department of Corrections has proposed closing Pontiac outright and transferring inmates to a new, unused facility in Thomson. Local officials in Pontiac have come out against that.
