Brady: Budget is a sham

State Representative Dan Brady says he won't support any state budget plan that isn't responsible and balanced.

     The first of this year's layered budgets has passed the Illinois House. Democrats flexed their muscle, and pushed through more than a dozen spending plans that could be the state's final budget. State Representative Dan Brady of Bloomington voted against it.

House Republican Leader Tom Cross says the budget won't pay for a thing, because it won't pass the Senate or the Governor's office.

The Illinois Senate is expected to start work on its layered budget today. If the House and Senate layers don't add up, and lawmakers can't agree on a budget by next Saturday, the General Assembly could be headed back for another long summer in Springfield.
