Colene Hoose grade school gaining national chess reputation

     Colene Hoose Elementary Students are gaining a reputation in the game of chess. Chess Club coach Charlie Bates says some students just got back from a national tournament in Pittsburgh. He says the kindergarten/first-grade team finished 3rd place nationally and the fourth and fifth-grade team placed 7th nationally. He also says these students could give some adults a run for their money.

     Meanwhile, fifth grader Samantha Carlson is already looking ahead to her junior high-team.

     Before the national tournament, the kindergarten/first-grade team took first place in the last five tournaments it competed in.
