Sweeney resigns from board
05/18/2008 08:00:53

Mike Sweeney has two years remaining on his county board term.

McLean County Board member Mike Sweeney is resigning his post. Sweeney began serving on the board in 1986 when he was elected in District 3. He resigned his position as county board chair last August, saying the move was a family decision. Now, he has submitted a letter of resignation that'll be considered at Tuesday's county board meeting.

Sweeney officially resigns on May 31. That means the board will seek a replacement. Applications can be turned in through July 3. A decision on that replacement is expected on July 22.
