Committee to suggest minor league owner Tuesday

The Town of Normal's baseball ad-hoc committee chairman says members have narrowed down potential minor league owners to three viable groups.

Alan Sender tells WJBC's R.C. McBride the Heartland Community College Board of Trustees will make its own decision on the matter Tuesday. Meanwhile, baseball entrepreneur Mike Veeck tells WJBC his group is one of the three finalist.

Heartland's campus would serve as the site for a new minor league stadium. If an ownership group is approved next week, the Town of Normal would decide in June whether to fund infrastructure improvements near the stadium.
