The top advocate in the nation for Alzheimer's is a woman from Bloomington. Judy Buchanan began working with the Alzheimer's Association in the 1990s, but was affected in the 1970s when her mother was diagnosed. She was honored Thursday night in Washington, where she received the Maureen Reagan Outstanding Advocate Award from the Alzheimer's Association.

Buchanan tells WJBC's Beth Whisman there have been a lot of advancements in Alzheimer's care, including Adult Day programs.
