The Bloomington Prairie Thunder have announced the team is not renewing the contract of head coach Derek Booth, the first head coach in franchise history. He compiled a 56-83-13 record in two seasons. The Prairie Thunder compiled a record of 25-56-6 in the team's first season in 2006 - in the United Hockey League. In 2007, the Prairie Thunder was 31-38-7 in the International Hockey League. The team finished in last place both seasons.
Prairie Thunder General Manager Jerry McBurney says it was a difficult decision, but the team just didn't produce on the ice.
